about Me

Hannah Lee,

MSN, RN, APRN, AGACNP-BC

My name is Hannah- I am a fellowship-trained, acute care nurse practitioner specializing in critical care medicine and now completing my Doctor of Nursing degree!

Biosketch

Since I entered my undergraduate studies as a biology major at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, I have always been fascinated by the world of health science and medicine. My interests eventually led me down the path of getting a Master’s in Nursing at DePaul University and Post-Master's Certification as an Acute Care Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner at New York University. I also completed post-graduate training through University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Surgical and Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) fellowship program. This spring, I will be graduating with my Doctor’s of Nursing Practice (DNP).

My nursing career over the years has spanned multiple urban cities, including Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, as well as a variety of clinical specialties within cardiology, cardiac surgery, advanced heart failure, general surgery, and critical care medicine. I now work as a critical care nurse practitioner in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU) at University of Southern California (USC) Keck Hospital. The broad and comprehensive exposure to patient populations in these large metropolitan areas has not only helped to strengthen my clinical acumen but has allowed me to build a highly versatile skill set to collaborate effectively within fast-paced, multidisciplinary environments and manage complex patients in high-acuity clinical settings.

Scholarly interests

My area of scholarly interest primarily lies in the realm of graduate nursing education where I am focusing on the development of tools and methods to enhance clinical competencies in novice nurse practitioners and other advanced practice providers (APP) to ultimately improve patient care outcomes through development of foundational clinical skills.

My DNP project, “Implementation of a clinical reasoning workbook to enhance novice advanced practice provider clinical reasoning skills” is a program evaluation seeking to assess the impact of a novel educational tool on new graduate APP skills and competencies in clinical reasoning.

Future directions

After earning my DNP, I aim to expand my role as an advanced practice nurse leader by improving onboarding processes and mentoring novice clinicians. I also remain committed to scholarly inquiry and policy advocacy to support evidence‑based practice and enhance patient care outcomes.

Find out more about how I am using my DNP degree to conduct a scholarly project that will help to facillitate improved outcomes in new graduate APPs!
